The chassis of previous Ford Mustang models was very stiff and for 2006 Mustang it has become even more rigid. The rigidness greatly improves ride quality, less interior vibrations and crispy handling.

Engine

The new V6 4-liter engine is technically much more superior to the previous generation V6 engines found on Mustang. Its performance ratio is high for driving in any environment. The five speed automatic transmission also works wonders to improve the fuel economy. In fifth gear engine is put into an economy mode for cruising and only fired up when you need to change lanes or pass a car.

Suspension

2006 Ford Mustang has an upgraded rear suspension that reduces bouncing and skipping at the cars back. It makes use of three link light weight design along with Panhard bar, coil springs and other locators for keeping away the bumps.

Steering

One thing that is greatly improved in the new 2006 Ford Mustang is its steering capability. The predecessors had a soft steering and hard cornering was a little difficult then suspected. New steering is precise and crisp.

Braking

To increase handling and stopping distance of Mustang by a large factor the brakes got improves too. New brakes have a size almost 15 percent larger than the bakes found on previous Mustang models. New brakes provide good braking distance at high speeds and can be upgraded to ABS along with traction control.

Impressive Stability in Convertible Model

The convertible Ford Mustang is nearly as stable as the coupe version. Most of the times when a convertible version of a car model is designed, it gets shakier when the roof is down but due to stiff chassis and good overall design the new mustang convertible provides good ride quality with roof down.

Smoother Ride

With an increase of almost 6 inches in the wheel base the ride has become smoother then the previous Mustang models.

Mustang V6 Deluxe

New 2006 Mustang Delux is the most sold model of the Mustang lineup. For a low price of $20,000 it provides decent acceleration, torque and handling. The deluxe model is lighter, have smaller Wheels and its V6 generates 90 horsepower less than the V8 on GT but it has better turning capability.

Mustang GT

Ford Mustang GT model is equipped with a V8 that produces 300 horsepower. Though it costs higher than the base models but it gives a sporty experience. The new engine is a three valve V8 with latest engine management equipment and has both electronic throttle control and variable camshaft timing.

These features give good amount of engine performance and acceleration. Put your foot down on the accelerator and it will do 0-60 mph in only 5.5 seconds. Even with 320 pound/feet of torque the car handles really well on curved roads and has excellent grip of the road.
