The interiors are good for the class. Made of quality material everything speaks of itself.Everything is designed with precision .Steering is good, with firm grip. The gauges are round,bit large ,placed in the centre of the hud are the speedometer and tachometer flanked by the fuel and temperature gauges. In the sedans the gauges are white on black while in the coupe the gauges are highlighted with silver color and glow in the night. The hybrids feature blue graphics. The seats are comfortable, the seat cloth is made of quality material. The car is spacious and accomodates very well in front as well at the back. But if we compare the front seats are more accomodating and the rear seats accomodation aint the best for large sized passengers. The floor is flat at the back so adjusting 3 persons at the back is easy. The heating and air conditioning is same as of a quaity car. There are large rotary dials for temperature adjustment. The flow direction of air the fan speed controls are jus left to the stereo control. There are separate buttons for AC, recirculation below the audio system. Infact all the controls are very user friendly and easy to understand. The sound system aint a quality system still its better then the previous models. The trunk capacity is fairly good but little small for its class.

The DX, LX and EX coupes and sedans both have a 1.8 liter four cylinder inline engine generating 140 horsepower along with a manual 5 speed transmission.

To opt for an automatic transmission you need to spend an extra $800. A more power full car than the ones above is the Si coupe. This performance package comes with a 2.0 liter 197 horse power 4 inline cylinders engine. The transmission offered is a manual 6 speed. The hybrid model has a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder engine coupled with a magnetic electric motor. A continuous varying transmission comes with this hybrid.

DX Sedan and Coupe

DX sedan costs $14,560 and DX coupe costs $14,360. The features include power window, telescope and tilt steering wheel, height adjusting driving seat and a window integrated antenna for radio in the rear.

LX Sedan and Coupe

LX sedan costs $16,510 and LX coupe costs $16,310. Hybrid Sedan

Honda Hybrid costs $21,850 and has all the standard features of LX sedan. Honda Civic Hybrid

Honda civic hybrid model has also better tuned for 2006 beating its 2005 model in every respect. The fuel economy is around 50 mpg for both the city and the highway drive. Horsepower has increased by 17 hp and torque has an addition of 18 ponds/feet.

The LX Civic sedan has many improvements than 2005 models. In 2006 model line up this car brings the best comfort drive than any other. The enjoyment in the drive of Honda civic has been brought back into it which was lost a little bit in 2005 and previous models. The solid comfortable ride of LX brings with it lesser wind and road noise then expected in compacts. Gear shifts have become smoother. The main difference among sedan and hybrid civic models is the transmission. The automatic transmission keeps the rpm at the most efficient number according to driving speed and the condition of the road. The weight difference among them i.e. hybrid is 74 pounds heavier than the sedan, has not put any affect on the car performances and has not created any difference either.

Differences Among Coupes

Coupes come out to have relatively larger differences among them. Si coupe has a manual 6 speed transmission which had pleasant shifts and good precision. The other coupes in the Honda Civic line up has manual 5 speed transmission which is not that pleasant as compared to the Si’s transmission. It actually felt like tough and needed careful handling. Handling of Si demanded some skill. The engine is producing good power but being a front wheel drive the amount of acceleration generated affects the steering wheel making the drive to put in an extra effort to get good fun. The base coupes are less challenging with the decrease in power.

Braking from high speeds and pushing the throttle hard while coming out of the curves is quite joyful in the Si coupe. Base coupes are well less thrilling but if you have enough money in your pocket Si coupe will certainly deliver the best coupe experience in its price range.

Honda at its Best

Only power is not added to the entire model line up but the chassis, suspension, wheels are all upgraded to support this fresh new power change. The chassis is made stronger and has better crash worthiness; more stiffness is added too which has given civic more solid drive. Both suspensions of front and rear have been redesigned along larger alloys and better tiers which have given the 2006 civic more stability and steering has become crisp. The ride has become smoother by a longer wheel base.

Exterior Features of 2006 Honda Civic

Honda has completely changed the civic for 2006 and no single panel from the 2005 model is carried to the new car. The metal sheet is also changed. The coupes and sedans also don’t share any body panels among them and have their own trims. The new 2006 body frame is designed stronger to absorb more shocks. Targeting the compact sport market the capability for suspension and other modifications without hindering the cars looks are also provided in 2006.

Sedans Front

Sedans font is quite wider than the 2005 model. The styling of the front is delicate. Sedan’s front grille has a dominant polished bar placed horizontally. The headlights are fixed in an upward angle curving around fenders. There is a single broad front air intake.

Coupes Front

The front of the coupe is wider even then the 2006 sedan. The grill of coupe is wider and has a Honda logo on dull black frame. Headlights of the coupe have more style and sharp outline. The front intake is also different and it opens in two recesses feeding air to the disc brakes of front wheel. There is also fog lights optional space present too.

Windshield and Sails

The windshield of the sedan is quit steep stretching to the hood and matching the Acura NSX’s angle. The coupe has an even steeper angle of the front windshield. The sails (body paneling after rear windows) are also different for sedans and coupes. The sedan’s sail is stretched to the edge of rear door and has higher roof whereas the coupe’s rounded sail gives swift look.

Rear

The rear of the cars is also different. The coupe has a sloping trunk where as the sedan has almost a vertical cut at the trunk edge trailing into the bumper.

Interior Features 2006 Honda Civic

The shape of interfaces and features in the all new 2006 Honda civic interior don’t have much symmetry among them and give a look of a video game. However it doesn’t look bad.

Dash Board

Under the hood above the round analog tachometer there is a digital speedometer, temperature and fuel meters. To the sides are the air conditioning vents. In the center of the dash board are the LCD window with navigation display and some audio controls or in hybrid some hybrid control system functions and stereo controls right above the panel for climate control. In front of the passenger the ash board is curving and has two different air conditioning vents.

Center stack is not available and there is storage bin in the dash in front of front passenger. Under the climate control there is a storage bin and has power point at its left. Cup holders are also provided for convenience. Between the front seats is an armrest and has a storage bin too. Doors have hard map pockets.

Interior Passenger Space

Well even with an addition in the overall length of the 2006 civic the space between dash and front seat is same where as the leg space between the rear and front seat has gone almost an inch less. However the hip space is almost half an inch more in the front and more than half inch in the rear seats than the 2005 models.

Comfort

The seats are comfortable and the upholstery is quite durable. Thigh support has become even better with head restraint adjustments available for all five seats. Front driver’s seat also has height adjustment.

Cabin View

The front vision with a steep expensive windshield and a sloping hood is unmatched in compact class. The side beltline is also low giving better side view. The side mirrors are placed more toward the rear enhancing the rear side view. The coupes has even smaller C pillar (pillars joining the rear window and the ) and provide better rear view.

Trunk

The trunk has good capacity and a compact spare tier. The luggage capacity is some what less than the 2005 models.
