Driving 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Driving 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse is now more powerful than before. More distance among wheels and extra weight gives it a solid stance, more stability but performance improvement is not much than the previous model.
The new Eclipses designed on Galant platform is more like a coupe than a sporty car.

2006 Mitsubishi Better Engines and Power Enhancements
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse engines get added power. The new V6 gives the GT 53 extra horse power and 55 pond/feet more torque than the previous model GTS engine did. The engine on GS gives 15 more hp and 20 more pound/feet torque than its predecessor.
2006 Mitsubishi Transmission
The 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse manual 6 speed transmission comes with something new. The power re routing through shafts and gears provide with two centre differential drive ratios. The first is that the unit size is reduced that makes installation easy and front weight bias of the GT is also considerably reduced.
Driver doesn’t know this. When the variable valve system at 4000-4300 rpm shifts modes a small surge is felt which is not much noticeable but is a small price that is paid. The automatic transmission has more smooth kicks and shits.
2006 Mitsubishi Suspension
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse suspension now comes with a bigger rear stabilizing bar that counters front stiffer springs which gives better strut tower-cross-bar and roll center.
2006 Mitsubishi Ride Quality
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse has a smooth ride which is up to the expectations. Directional stability of eclipse is quite good. Its handling is like that of a front wheel drive coupe which if accelerated into corner gives under steer and under acceleration the steering wheel also tugs to right. The GTS has larger wheel base and firm suspension which helps improving the cornering ability of Mitsubishi Eclipse.
2006 Mitsubishi Drivers View
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse exterior mirrors are placed more towards the rear which makes a driver to put more effort in scanning the traffic on sides by moving his head. The rear and front wind screen are placed to give a good overall driver visibility.
2006 Mitsubishi Cabin Noise Reduction and Brakes
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse has better noise reduction inside the cabin. The wind noise is very less at high speeds. Braking of Eclipse is also linear and solid which means it stops in a short, straight line but with electronic management systems interfering with them make things a little annoying.
