For more than 30 years I thought that by paying extra for a Mercedes Benz I would be getting better quality vehicles however it appears that over the last few years this is not so. My A class bought new in 2000, after only 77,000 kms needed a complete gearbox overhaul. My requests to MB for after warranty assistance were met with refusal due to "age and kms travelled".
