The instrument panel consists of two large dials that show the engine and speed. The third dial which is a little smaller rests in between of these too dials and indicates fuel level. All of these three dials are well placed in such a manner that driver convenience was not taken into account. There is a hood like an eye brow that rises from the dash near driver’s door and covers the instrument panel dropping at the right side of centre stack.
The handles of 2006 Pontiac Solstice’s doors are placed high and forward which makes opening and closing of the doors comfortable. The powered mirror control placed below the door handle in the door pull can be conveniently manipulated by the index finger. One more thing that is in the wrong position is the hand brake. It is away from the driver’s side of the drive tunnel and near the passenger. The knob for controlling the front seat angle is also difficult to reach if the doors are closed. Too make things more easy the power mirror buttons should have placed even further in the armrest.
2006 Pontiac Solstice seats are comfortable but the bottom seat cushions lack some thigh support. For more comfort height adjustment for the seat will really improve the quality of a long journey by removing the strain on hamstrings. 2006 Pontiac Solstice will get better outside visibility from the cabin if the seats are elevated. 2006 Pontiac Solstice has almost same cabin space as that of the Miata. The leg room is half an inch less, head room is an inch more and the hip room is identical in both these cars.
2006 Pontiac Solstice offers just basic passenger safety options. These include only the front seat airbags in contrast of front, side air bags and seat anchor for child safety in Mazda Miata.
Storage and Trunk
2006 Pontiac Solstice’s cabin has a well integrated look and feel and fuller than was expected. The fit and finish of the car is also of quality except that you will find an uneven wrap on passenger airbag of this convertible. The design of interior including instrument panels and other controls have earned good scores too.

With the top up the storage capacity is almost doubled. The trunk capacity is 3.8 cubic feet but if the top is down than the capacity reduces to only 1.4 cubic feet. The most space used in the trunk is by the fuel tank. The worst thing is that it is placed in the middle of the trunk floor which leaves very less place for luggage. Since the centre of the floor is already taken there is no space left for the spare tier. To deal with a flat tier an emergency inflater is placed behind the trunk wall. Trunk lid opening and closing requires some expertise and do consult the manual.
